What is Biomimetic Dentistry?
The biomimetic philosophy revolves around restoration of as much of the existing tooth structure as possible after a tooth is damaged. A biomimetic plan involves ozone treatment, education of patients so that they can have the best possible oral hygiene practices, and preventive dental sealants that can help eliminate tooth decay and periodontal disease recurrences. Root canal treatments and cutting down teeth for crowns are much less often necessary with this approach. Furthermore, tooth sensitivity is less likely with biomimetic dentistry.
