Do you think you already know all there is to know about the teeth whitening process? Knoxville dentist, Dr. Jim Erpenbach, challenges you to a quiz.

Questions

Q1. True or false – A nice smile can lead to better success on the job.

Q2.True or false – Your teeth are likely to be extra sensitive after bleaching.

Q3. True or false – Teeth whitening from Dr. Erpenbach not only whitens regular teeth, but also metal crowns and fillings.

Q4. True or false – Fluorosis is a whitening treatment designed to use natural ingredients that provide up to 10 shades of brightness to your smile.

Answers

A1. TRUE – Research shows that healthy looking and confident smiles can lead to people having more success in their relationships and careers.

A2. FALSE – Some minor tooth sensitivity is a possibility after a teeth whitening procedure. However, we do our best to make sure this doesn’t happen by covering gums during teeth whitening procedure and checking that you have a clean bill of dental health before allowing you to whiten.

A3. FALSE – Teeth whitening will only be successful on natural teeth. Metal fillings and crowns in your mouth will not respond to whitening. Composite fillings are designed to match the color of your teeth, but they won’t whiten at the same rate as natural teeth with bleaching treatments.

A4. FALSE – Fluorosis is actually a condition that occurs in young children when they are exposed to excessive amounts of fluoride. Fluorosis will show up when teeth erupt in a child’s mouth, in the form of white or brown spots on teeth. There can also be pitting. Unfortunately, teeth whitening probably won’t solve the problem completely. Porcelain veneers may be a better choice.
